Split Vase by taintedbrush Split Vase by taintedbrush
This was a fun project. One of my larger wheel-thrown pieces, about 16 inches tall or so. A friend suggested doing a diagonal dip into a red and celadon glaze, and I rather like how it turned out.

The celadon glaze dripped a bit which is unfortunate. I need to grind off the excess at the bottom.

Thanks for looking

Haha thanks! I'm really glad too :) If I didn't it probably wouldn't have turned out halfway decent lol

This is magnificent! I love the flared overlap. Is that a shino? It doesn't seem to crack against the tan glaze, so maybe not... Very vibrant red. I love bright colors like that. If you have the recipe, would you mind sharing it?

Thanks a lot :) :) It's just Celadon glaze, and the red was from a huge 50 gallon batch called California Red. I'll have to ask my instructor for the recipe and I'll let you know!

Here ya go! Hope this table turns out right. If not i'll just scan the recipe. The weights it calls for makes a huge batch.

19.5 Flint Silica 4 7/8
5.7 Kaolin - EPK 1 7/16

Ooooooh, I like this one! Very nice shape to it, and the two colors look awesome.

How hard is it to throw pottery on a wheel?

Thank you! :D I find throwing pots on the easy side, but some people hate it. It's all about patience learning how to center the clay, and being able to keep your arms and body stable :)
